Close Proximity or Proximity

Is it Close Proximity or just Proximity? That is the question.

Let’s explore:

PROXIMITY = very good

CLOSE PROXIMITY = climb on the short bus

Something in proximity is already close. Saying that it is in close proximity is just stupid.

Bad Examples:

1. The spaceship is in close proximity to the planet of nerds.
2. The backpack full of dynamite was in close proximity to the campfire.

 

Good Examples:

1. That juicy steak is in proximity to my mouth. That is my steak. Touch it and I will fork you.
2. Seriously, your ass is in proximity to my face, which contains my nose. Please move it.
