How to Write Good Quality Content
Leveraging Your Ability to Write Good Quality Content to Improve Your Website’s Performance
In the Cretaceous period of website development, knowing how to write good quality content didn’t matter. You just bought a website name, threw up some cool photos, listed a few items to buy, and stuffed your pages with the most popular keywords. And then you watched the money roll in. It worked. But it also resulted in searches for gift baskets yielding sites for German scheit videos. Search engines are much smarter now. This is why, in the modern days of website development, it is CRITCAL that you learn how to write good quality content for your website.
Make it Original
To get your pages to rank properly your content needs to be original. What does this mean? Well, it does NOT mean that all of your content needs to be unique to the Internet. That’s impossible. Chances are, someone out there has already written about the subject. That’s okay. In the brains of search engines this means nothing. It’s okay to have content that is similar to other websites. The key is to write good quality content that is unique to YOUR website.
Make it Reflect the True Nature of Your Website
Have you ever visited a website that contained a page that just didn’t seem to fit? It happens all the time. People go off on a tangent. I blame facebook. Seriously. We are all now conditioned to just blab about the first thing that pops in our heads. That’s fine on a social platform, but on your website people expect you to stay on topic. Stop talking about your damn cat! Unless, of course, your website is about cats. If I’m going to a website about popcorn I expect to see all sorts of post and pages about, well… popcorn. I don’t care about how the author of the website is doing. I don’t want to see pictures of his or her kids. In fact, I don’t want to encounter ANY content that is not about popcorn, cause I LOVE me some popcorn!
Use Credible Sources
Your mom may be as cool as mine, but unless she’s the surgeon general she’s probably not the best source for statistics on heart disease. If you want to write good quality content that is outside of your comfort zone make sure to consult an expert. Don’t make stuff up, either. You WILL be found out, especially in your comments section. Actual experts who spot erroneous errors will waste no time in pointing them out. You don’t know everything. Neither do I. That’s why I always make a point of directing people to an expert source whenever I can.
Get To The Point
Don’t piddle around. If you are going to write good quality content start getting to the point right away. One of the key differences between shoddy content and good quality content is saying what you REALLY mean… and NOTHING MORE. These days, everyone is pressed for time. Don’t rob it from them. Deliver on what you promise and do it fast.
Spellcheck in NOT an Edit!
Have you seen the Grammar Card on TOT HE? Check it out and you’ll understand why it is so important to take a really good look at what you’ve written. Spellcheck only checks the spelling of words. It is not a proper edit. There’s a really AWESOME and FREE software program out there called GINGER. You can download it instantly and it installs with just one click. I use it. It not only checks your spelling, but it also checks your grammar. It does this anywhere you type. I consider myself a pretty good writer, and I can’t imagine not having Ginger there to double-check my work.
Writing Good Quality Content Takes Time
This is your livelihood we’re talking about here. Set aside time to make sure you write good quality content. Don’t rush the process. Don’t get distracted. Work it and rework it until it shines. Another good thing to consider is to read what you have written out loud, preferably to another human being. Reading it your cat does not count. Don’t forget to ask for that person’s honest opinion, too. Rewrite if you need to. It’s that important. Read on and you’ll see why.
Use Good Resources
Simply spelling words correctly doesn’t mean you are using them correctly. While you really shouldn’t try to use big words just for the sake of using big words, you should strive to use words that transmit what you are actually trying to say. If you are not sure about a word, look it up. It doesn’t take that long. A good online source is dictionary.com, which also has a thesaurus tab for those of you who want to add a little spice! Explore WriteGooder.com as well, it’s chock full of all sorts of articles, grammar cards, videos and books to help you write good quality content.
Does Google Care If I Write Good Quality Content?
Not really. Google is not a person. Google is not real. But Google is the #1 search engine on the planet. It’s the Big Kahuna. The Big Cheese. And if you are even remotely interested in attracting visitors to your website, then you should care A LOT about what Google thinks. In 2011, Google introduced several changes to its algorithm. Most notable are the now infamous Panda Update as well as the Penguin Update. Cute little names, but two deadly adversaries to reworked, tired, old, rehashed and boring content. Google is getting pretty smart. If Google suspects your content is wishy-washy, serves no purpose, has no real value, or has been stolen from some other source, your website ranking will suffer greatly.
Why is Google Doing This?
It’s simple, really. Google is doing it for your own good. No matter what you hear, these algorithm alterations are important. Why? They are important because they really do make your Internet experience better and much more accurate. Don’t you want to find what you are REALLY looking for? It all depends on if the author of that website took the time to write good quality content.
It’s time to stop thinking of Google as the enemy and accept the fact that all of these changes were very much needed. Google is your friend. Google wants you to have a positive experience on the Internet. Google also makes a lot of money by placing ads with search results that matter. If it didn’t, no one would buy their ads. It’s in Google’s best interest to make sure your website contains good quality content that pertains to EXACTLY what your website represents.
Learn From the Masters
I always thought I was doing a pretty good job of writing good quality content. I’m a funny dude, I’m awesome, and people generally enjoy listening to the words that come out of my mouth. It’s a gift. But I didn’t realize how freakin’ far off I was until I came across a guy by the name of Peng Jung. I found out about him through John Chow, a very well-respected Internet marketing guru. Just visit his site to see how influential Chow really is. So I said to myself, “self, if John Chow endorses this guy, then I should probably at least check him out.”
The reason I’m mentioning this in relation to how you write good quality content is that Peng Jung explains what that REALLY means in ways I simply can’t. Again, I always thought I was writing good quality content. And I was! But the way I was structuring my content and presenting it on my pages was just not effective.
It’s Not Enough to Include Good Quality Content on Your Website
Everything you write – every single page and post – has to be carefully structured without seeming unnatural. It’s a marriage of sorts: write good quality content coupled with include powerful SEO (search engine optimization).
I’m not going to lie to you. Peng Jung has a system, and it’s not free. But it’s not that expensive either. Seriously, for about the price of an average meal for two you can get his complete system. And let me tell you, it’s the most informative system I have ever come across. DO NOT buy any other systems until you at least check out his promotional video first. What’s the harm in that? It won’t cost you a dime to watch the video. I’m guessing that after you do, you’ll want to whip out your debit card and get access to this system for yourself.
So what is this magical system called? It’s called the Work From No Home System. Not only does it give you a step-by-step breakdown of EXACTLY what to do to write good quality content, it does it in a very logical and methodical manner. I have NEVER seen a system that actually TELLS you EXACTLY what to do! I searched years for answers to how to write good quality content to monetize on websites. All I ever found was a lot of people talking about what they were going to SHOW you. But no one ever got to the damn point! The Work From No Home System gets to straight to the point, and it does it fast!
Check out the video. Make your own decision. All I can tell you is that I bought the system for myself and it not only improved the quality of MY content, but it showed me, line for line, how to use my own original content to work FOR me instead of AGAINST me. I can’t tell you everything. I’ll let Peng tell you in his own words.
SERIOUSLY, WATCH THIS FREAKIN’ VIDEO!
Watch the video. It’s just a few minutes long. You’ll see how in 30 days he went from $0 to more than $12,000 a month using this system! You can’t argue with results like that! If you really want to learn how to write good quality content and then monetize it like crazy this system is for you. A friendly word of warning: study the ENTIRE system. It takes time. It’s tempting to skip ahead, but you will lose so much valuable information if you do so. Buy the system, study it, and then you will also know the secret of how to write good quality content and use it to monetize your website in ways you can only imagine.
Last But Not Least, Don’t Repeat Yourself
The biggest thing you can do wrong when attempting to write good quality content is to cover the same subject more than once. Don’t do this. Google HATES this. If you take the time to write about a subject, make sure you do a good job. Be thorough. Research and study the topic inside and out. Write a good quality article or blog post you would want to read yourself. Expect the same quality out of what you have written as you would out of reading something someone else has written. Do it right the first time, and then never cover that topic again unless you have something fresh to add.
I hope this article helps you develop and write good quality content for your own website. I’ve taken the time to include some very good resources as well. I hope you take full advantage of them. I’m in a much happier place now. I’d hate to see you go through the long and misinformed search for answers that I had to endure.
Was this article helpful? I truly hope it was. Let me know what you think.
